Professional Fundraising Instructor Jon SchaffrathBoston University, Boston, MA – Boston University Center for Professional Education is pleased to announce the appointment of Jonathan Schaffrath, CFRE, as Program Director for its Professional Fundraising Certificate Program.

Since 2006, Jon has been fundraising for Harvard Business School in a variety of positions in development. Jon is currently a Senior Development Officer working with a portfolio of 250 alumni capable of making seven-figure gifts and leading the Harvard Business School Alumni West Coast Regional Strategy. In 2009, Jon worked as a Teaching Assistant, and at times instructor, at the Harvard Extension School as part of a team teaching Principles and Practices of Fundraising and Development Communications.

In 2011, Jon began as an Instructor at the Boston University Center for Professional Education teaching both the online and on-campus fundraising courses.

Jon is a graduate of Boston College, with majors in General Management and English, and received his MBA from Babson College with a Marketing concentration. Jon also holds a number of fundraising credentials including: Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Summer Institute, Boston University Certificate in Professional Fundraising, Ellen Estes Planned Giving, and Penelope Burke’s Donor Centered Fundraising. Jon is a regular speaker and volunteer at the annual CASE D1 Conference.

In an effort to leverage his fundraising skills in his personal life, Jon is regularly involved with fundraising for important educational institutions, religious organizations, and political figures.  Jon, his wife, and young son live in Newton, MA and enjoy time with extended family and traveling.

Boston University is proud to have Jon at the helm of its online program, offering students the opportunity to explore or grow a career in development through comprehensive study of all aspects of fundraising, and prepare to sit for the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE™) exam.
